Is Renal Parenchymal Disease Equivalent to Kidney Failure

My mother’s test report shows she has renal parenchymal disease. Now, her creatinine level is 7.2mg/dl and BUN is 58. We want to ask whether renal parenchymal disease equivalent to kidney failure.

Renal parenchymal disease is described as abnormal changes developing in renal parenchyma. Renal parenchyma consists of kidney functioning tissues including glomeruli and renal tubules. Healthy renal parenchyma can guarantee the normal function of kidneys. If some congenital factors, inherited disorders or some harmful substances attack kidney functioning tissues, we call it as renal parenchymal disease. With this disease, patients’ kidney function declines gradually.

Kidney failure refers to end stage kidney disease, in which kidneys are only functioning at less than 15%. With kidney failure, kidneys can’t work properly so that dialysis, kidney transplant or other kidney replacement therapies are needed. Kidney failure may be caused by various problems in either kidney functioning tissues or kidney vascular tissues.

From the above analysis, we can know renal parenchymal disease is one progressive kidney disorder that appears in certain regions, while kidney failure is end stage kidney disease that can be induced by different pathogenic disorders. Therefore, renal parenchymal disease isn’t equivalent to kidney failure. To know more about the causes, symptoms, treatments or diet of either renal parenchymal disease or kidney failure, you can email to kidneyabc@hotmail.com.
