Creatinine 3.5 and Sodium Level 137: Can It Be Curable

My father is a diabetic. Now, his creatinine level is 3.5 mg/dl and his BP increases to 160. The sodium level is 137. Can it be curable?

Creatinine is one waste product during muscle metabolism, while sodium is one important mineral in the body. Generally, the normal creatinine ranges from 0.5 to 1.3 mg/dl, while the normal level of sodium in the blood is from 135 to 145. From your description, we can know your father’s creatinine level is higher than the normal, while his sodium level is normal.

For diabetics, high creatinine level is more likely to indicate kidney damage. When kidneys can’t do their work efficiently, extra waste products including creatinine will accumulate in the blood. Besides, high blood pressure is another complication of diabetes. When diabetics have kidney disease, nearly all of them will have high blood pressure with the progress of their illness condition.

Unfortunately, once kidneys are damaged, we can’t cure it completely. The thing we can do is to protect the remaining kidney tissues and repair damaged but not necrotic kidney cells. Here, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) may be helpful. Some of them can expand blood vessels and increase the blood flow into kidneys, so as to lower high blood pressure and supply enough nutritions and oxygen for damaged kidney cells. Some other medicines focus on repairing damaged kidneys and pancreatic cells. Once these goals are achieved, patients can lower their high creatinine level and keep normal blood pressure successfully.
