PKD is an inherited kidney disorder that has two types. One is autosomal dominate polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD). The other is autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease (ARPKD). As one complication of polycystic kidney disease, brain aneurysm is also one death cause for these patients. High blood pressure can increase the risk of brain aneurysm rupture.

High blood pressure is usually the first symptom of PKD. If uncontrolled effectively, it can worsen patients brain condition as the above mentioned. Besides, it can also cause cardiovascular disease or even heart failure. From this point, managing high blood pressure timely is a must.

Kidney failure is another factor that makes PKD life-threatening, because it can cause not only dysfunction of kidneys but also damage to many other organs. In most cases, kidney failure patients die of kidney failure complications rather than kidney failure itself.
